Blog Journal #8
I’ve never made any kind of blog before, so this assignment was pretty much my introduction to web design. I think I have a better grasp of the fundamentals of making a website aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly now. Overall, I enjoyed this assignment, and I liked the freedom I had in formatting the website. I’m proud of how mine turned out. I’ll definitely be utilizing these tools to make an online portfolio for my writing. Here's my website.
I’m not a super huge fan of Diigo, but I find some aspects
of it useful. I think it could be most helpful in the context of a group
research project. The annotation function is pretty robust, and I like that you
can comment on other people’s annotations. The summary function is also pretty
helpful if you’re working with a group.
Staying up to date with technology is an important part of
professional development as a teacher. Since we are going to be expected to
teach many of our future students technological literacy, it’s important that
we are literate ourselves. Interacting with one’s teacher peers on social media
about new developments in education and educational technology can be useful.
There are also many sites that curate information about technology. One useful
one is PCMag, an online magazine that publishes reviews of new and upcoming
technology.
